The Essex Domestic Abuse Project: Step by Step – Supporting you to Support Them
With domestic abuse on the rise, there will be large numbers of friends and family trying to support loved ones through their experience. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming not to have all the answers or be able to provide a solution.
That’s why we are really pleased to learn of a new service in Essex for those supporting family or friends in a Domestic Abusive relationship.
The Essex Domestic Abuse Project: Step by Step – Supporting you to Support Them is an Essex County Council initiative in partnership with Barnardo’s which offers help to access services to reduce to impact of the abuse and to aid early intervention, ultimately increasing safety.
They offer both practical and emotional support through workshops and information sessions. They encourage individuals not to ignore feelings of worry they may have about loved ones’ relationships but, instead, offer advice on how to help.
Workshops and information sessions will cover things like recognising abuse, helping to build confidence to seek help and promoting wellbeing and connection.
If you are worried about a friend or family member and don’t know how to help, more details can be found at https://www.barnardos.org.uk/get-support/services/essex-da-project-step-step-supporting-you-support-them
